Arrival to Molise Region to start off our journey with fun! We head to the spectacular area of Colle dell’Orso in Frosolone (province of Isernia), located in the easthern high-hills in of Matese Mountains, between Trigno River and Biferno River Valleys. The surrounding areas is caractherized by vast beech forests, rocky walls, green meadow where wild horses graze in freedom. In this unspoiled environment, rises the most thrilling crag of the region where fun and adrenaling are guaranteed! We offer a range of different activities to do on the rocky walls, from low to high difficulty level. Our knowledgeable and expert coach (Alps Guide UIAGM) will take care of you during the climbing as well as he will demonstrate you regulations and precautions to have a safe and fun experience. After the activity we stop for the lunch break, packed lunch of local products is provided. In the late afternoon, we reach our selected hotel. Check-in and accommodation in the guest rooms. Located in the heart of Molisan backcountry, the spread-out hotel of Colle D’Anchise rises from an ancient water mill of the rural village, where the stones and the Biferno River give a touch of elegance and witness the identity of local culture. Participants can enjoy the peaceful and relaxing surroundings of the river park, visit the ancient mill and disused hydroelectric power station as well as walking trhough the narrow alleys of the small village of Colle D’Anchise. Dinner of local dishes is served in the hotel’s restaurant. Overnight stay at the hotel.
After breakfast we are ready for a new adventure in Molise! The first range of activities of the day are water sports. You can choose from rafting, canoeing and kayaking. Due to weather conditions and participants preferences the activity may be subjected to changes to ensure a safe and smooth adventure experience. You can feel the adrenaline descending the Biferno River, which in spring and summer had the perfect water conditions to practice this kind of activity. If you like a more relaxing and peaceful experience, rowing a canoe, will give you the chance to anjoy the glimpe of the mountains, listen to the sounds of nature and come across beautiful herons, small and colorful kingfishers or sneak up on flock of mallards resting on the banks of the river. The same for the Lake of Matese, at high altitude, either on the Gallo Matese Lake or the Lake of Castel San Vincenzo and Letino. Our instructors U.I.S.P. (Italian Union Sport for All) and local guides will be at your complete disposal and they will provide you with the equipment to start your adventure safely and in a relaxing mood. Lunch break, packed lunch of local product is provided. Afeter lunch, we are ready for the hiking trails. Our staff of professional travel designers will suggest the one that best meets your needs and preferences. Different paths are ready to be discovered: Man and Biosphere Collemeluccio-Montedimezzo Reserve, The Brigand’s Path from Roccamandolfi (Isernia Province) to Gallo Matese (Caserta Province) to catch breathtaking panoramas and live unforgettable emotions outdoor. In the late afternoon we return to our select hotel. Dinner and overnight stay at the hotel.
The adrenaline of the water sports and trekking will give the way to the pacefullness of the countryside. After breakfast, we reach the small village Castropignano. Here, Mario and his family will welcome us in his family-run farm where the Borraro’s live on artisan cheeses production, meat processing and preserving and sheep-farming. We spend quality-time with them, learing the secrets of the authenitic rural life and walking on the green pastures where the animal are bred in the wild, to protect their well-being and preserve the high quality of dairy products. We then take part in the milk processing and assist to the handmade production of cheese. You will enjoy a freshly curdled cheese tasting listening to the stories of the shepherd, gifted player of zampogna. Guests can eventually choose to bring back home the home speciality, to taste and enjoy what reminds you the best memory of your Molisan experience. End of our services.
There’s a part of Molise where small and delightful medieval villages are abounding; in here, we can find a tiny gem called La Piana dei Mulini. Located in the Biferno valley at the foothills of the Matese Mountains, this albergo diffuso – or scattered hotel, where rooms and amenities could be located in more than one building – is a historical residence with twelve rooms and a refined restaurant. In the main room, under beautiful stone vaults, the residence’s restaurant is located; their cuisine is refined, with meals prepared with seasonal products, considering the region’s biodiversity.
